I am thankful for the suggestion, the encouragement, and the support that all of you offer to me, the Relief Society presidency, and to each other.
In D&C 109:7 we are commanded, "...yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom, seek learning even by study and also by faith;" This puts literacy up at the top of the things we should be doing. On lds.org we are reminded that "Education and literacy are keys to promoting personal growth, preparing for suitable employment, building strong families, serving in the Church, and making a meaningful contribution to the society in which we live." Does that mean that we can only read books that we are studying for deeper insights and truths? No!
Gordon B. Hinckley said; "Good books are as friends, willing to give to us if we are willing to make a little effort." So lets make more friends and become friends of friends :) What kind of books do we want to share about here? ANY. Some of us have children that we read to. There are many children's books that I could talk about for hours. Some of us read a lot about history and can share that. Others of us love to read novels. We can get so caught up in the stories that time just flies by. We can share our thoughts on them. We love biographies, true life inspirational stories, short stories, and even poems. Some of us even write short stories and poems. Maybe you would like to have a place to share them. So you can here. Some of us find the coolest or cutest sayings and thoughts that just scream out to be passed along to be read in order to brighten another's day. Share it.
Do you see what I'm saying here? If you read it you can share it. We will love it. And thanks again for being so willing to join the Book Club. But don't forget: Our Face to Face Fellowshiping Meeting will be August 14,2012. Save the date and we will see you there. Until then, READ ~ POST~REVIEW
I love you all,

ReplyDeleteA wonderful and inspiring book I have read is called No Angel by Theresa Small Sneed. It's captivates the reader all the way to the end. We read or scriptures and study all that we can, but we still find lifes little questions coming back to us. This book puts a on how life is or could be. It leaves you on the egg of your seat and wanting more all the way to the end. I know for myself and many others they could not put this book down. There is one other book to this series and I bereave two more in the making. I promise that this book will NOT fail you!
